£300k Investment Cuts Burger Costs
One of the UK’s leading burger manufacturers has committed £300,000 to further automate its £5m. plus, three years old factory.
Paragon Quality Foods is spending the money on its packing area which became a bottleneck following the installation of a third Formax burger production line.
The installation was planned as a response to fast growing sales and faster growing sales forecasts.
The new equipment is expected to be commissioned and running by October and include a second carton erector.
The biggest move sees robotic systems replacing the final hand packing of burgers into boxes.
As a result the packing team will be halved, releasing experienced personnel for other duties.
“These improvements will remove a bottleneck and increase production capacity by up to 40%,” said managing director, Metin Pekin.
He forecast that the improvements would lower overheads, send efficiencies “through the roof” and lower the cost of finished products to customers.
In addition to an extensive range of standard and Halal burgers, the 20,000 sq. ft. factory also processes Doner Kebabs, Chicken & Lamb Shish, Koftes and other marinated chicken products.
