Golden Start for New Technical Manager
Already clutching gold is Jamie Downing, the new technical manager at Doncaster-based Paragon Quality Foods the burger company hit the top standard in the Food Hygiene Awards run by Doncaster Borough, one of a “small number” to achieve the gold award.
Mr. Downing has taken the position after 15 years experience in quality management including, latterly, as quality manager for Kerry Ingredients (Barnsley) and Grampian Country Foods (Rotherham).
At Paragon he is responsible for all quality systems, from source and through goods inwards and manufacturing to goods out. He also handles all health and safety matters and is charged with maintaining the company’s BRC accreditation.
The Doncaster hygiene award was made after detailed inspections of Paragon’s £5m Centre of Excellence where burgers, doner kebabs and marinated chicken products are produced for the fast food and foodservice sectors.
“We were impressed with the management hygiene practices and the building itself,” said Mr. N.J. Wellington, environmental health manager for the council.
